Vocational Training
Welding in Vocational Training
The Talgo Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council, has launched these awards aimed at students from Vocational Training centers in the Community of Madrid, where more than 280 young people are enrolled in welding and boiler-making programs. From among them, those students who stand out the most are selected to take part in practical tests held over three days at the Talgo Factory in Las Matas, Madrid.
Awards Objectives:
The awards aim to support and encourage welding within Vocational Training, an essential discipline in the science and technology of metallic materials, all of which are on the rise in the railway sector. At the same time, they seek to vindicate welding as a profession that requires excellent training, talent, skill, and knowledge.
The intention is for these awards to have a national scope, and it is hoped that future editions will receive the support of other organizations and institutions.
For this project, the Foundation sought the backing of the Community of Madrid, with the collaboration and sponsorship of 3M, ESAB Ibérica, and Carburos Metálicos, which are also three of Talgo’s suppliers for several years now, all of them especially committed to Vocational Training. This is also a way to promote and involve the supply chain in the need to have a Corporate Social Responsibility Plan and to include suppliers in it.

It is addressed to national and international universities such as Harvard University, Sanford, Oxford, Bologna, the Sorbonne, Coimbra, Wein, Heidelberg, Basel, Uppsala, M.V. Lomonosov, the National University of San Marcos, the University of Córdoba in Argentina, the University of San Francisco Xavier of Chuquisaca, the University of San Carlos in Guatemala, the University of Havana, the Autonomous University of Mexico, the Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, the University of Nanking in China, and Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
From the Talgo Foundation we support the History of Spanish Orders Award, of which we are also a part.
Objective of the Award
Its objective is to recognize a researcher who, regardless of nationality, produces a work related in some way to the Hispanic world and its projection in the world, taking into account criteria such as historical research, the rigor of its documentation, and the scope of its conclusions.
Institutional Commitment
Princess of Asturias Awards
The Talgo Foundation joins the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Asturias Foundation. The President of Talgo and its Foundation will serve as the representative on the Board of Trustees, the highest honorary and advisory body of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, which includes prominent institutions, companies, and organizations. The affiliation, effective as of the first of September, also represents a new show of support for the institution of the Monarchy as an effective tool for political cohesion and social development.
The Princess of Asturias Foundation and the Talgo Foundation share the same values of commitment to culture, science, and society through the promotion of knowledge and research.
