History and culture of the railway

We preserve the past to inspire the future, promoting the technological and social value of the train in our society.

Educational project

Talgo Comic

The comic produced jointly by the Talgo Foundation and the Madrid Railway Museum aims to encourage and provide 10,000 primary school students from the 3,290 schools in the Community of Madrid with a teaching tool to explain the Talgo acronym, as well as to tell its history (past, present, and future) and to present, in both an educational and engaging way, the evolution of the railway through Talgo’s story as a factor of technological development, also highlighting the evolution of the railway in Spain.

Talgo acronym

This initiative aims to spread awareness in society of the meaning of the acronym TALGO through the different projects carried out by the Foundation.

Unlike other sectors, such as the aeronautical one, the railway sector—despite being more attractive to society than others—is less well known, as people are unable to distinguish between the companies that manufacture trains and maintain them, those that provide transport services, and those that maintain railway infrastructure and signaling.

For this reason, it is necessary to properly educate future generations about the importance of the railway system both within and outside Spain, as well as about one of the most important companies in the sector.

Historical heritage

Talgo Museum: a journey through the Talgo Universe

The Talgo Foundation, remaining true to its commitment to culture, aims to showcase the history of its trains, the evolution of their production, aesthetics, interior design, and technology, their importance and impact on the Spanish railway system and on high-speed rail, as well as on the societies where Talgo has been present since 1942.

  • Its objective is to collect historical Talgo materials of great cultural value in order to preserve, exhibit, and share them so they can be used to foster research, culture, and study.
  • In short, it is both a physical and virtual museum through which it seeks to reach both types of end users.

Innovation R&D&I

Visits to the Talgo factory

The aim of these visits is to contribute to an initiative that its founder has been promoting for a long time: bringing Talgo and its technology closer through the promotion and dissemination of technological innovation, R&D&I, and the train as the mode of transport most committed to accessibility and the environment.

During the visits, attendees are actively involved by being introduced to the details of the train manufacturing process, as well as the development of the latest advances in Talgo’s proprietary technology, such as track gauge change, the guided independent wheel, and energy recycling.

Emphasis is also placed on the new technologies in Talgo trains, which allow the vehicle to adapt to the needs and special characteristics of each project and to the environmental conditions of very different locations.

* The visits are aimed at the academic community, researchers, as well as any organizations or institutions that may be interested.
